Project Cost Controller

We are a niche Marine Transportation & Logistics Company in the oil & gas industry. Due to our expansion we are seeking for dynamic and highly motivated to fill up the following positions.

Project Cost Controller

The primary role of the Project Cost Controller is to provide Cost Control Leadership to the organization, ensuring that every project is executed within forecasted margins. This includes setting up key processes to track project costs, producing and interpreting timely and accurate project costs to ensure that project costs are true and accurate and margins are properly kept on track.


The Project Cost Controller will spend considerable time on projects’ site to effectively discharge his/her duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement and review cost control processes and tools for tracking costs for multiple global projects. Ensure achievement of strict financial controls for projects.
  • Participate in project cost reviews and support the project teams in developing estimated project costs. Establish cost budgets with project teams at project initiation and track project cost against material variances. Raise warning flags on project cost overruns.
  • Perform regular strategic review of global project results with Group Financial Controller & Managing Director.
  • Review and evaluate project cost to ascertain validity.
  • Challenge projects’ functional manager, from a financial perspective, the achievement of margins, overheads and cash flow.
  • Provide leadership to the development of the global cost & management information system.

Reporting:

This position reports directly to the Managing Director.

Experience & Qualifications requirement:

  • Demonstrated Project Cost Control experience of at least 5 years in industries such as power plants, construction, marine or mining.
  • Mature and commercially minded professional who has considerable experience working with cross-cultural teams and in multiple foreign locations.
  • Bachelor degree in Accountancy or Engineering. Additional qualifications in cost management, such as CIMA an added advantage.
  • Able to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial managers. Highly developed cross-functional communication and reporting skills.
  • Able to travel more than 50% of the time as a minimum, globally.
